We’re honored to share that Verdacity has been named the 2026 U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Local Leadership Award recipient for Organizational Excellence in the New Mexico market.
This recognition reflects more than a single project or milestone—it speaks to how we practice, how we lead, and how we show up for our communities.
A Name That Carries Our Values
When Verdacity was founded, the name itself was intentional.
It combines “verde” (green) with “city,” alongside “veracity” (truth) and “audacity”
(boldness)—a reflection of what we set out to do: bring honesty, rigor, and bold thinking to the work of making healthier, more sustainable places.
It’s a reminder that sustainability isn’t just technical. It’s a responsibility—and a commitment to doing meaningful work with integrity.

A Practice Built on Values
From the beginning, the goal wasn’t just to deliver sustainable buildings. It was to build a practice grounded in quality, reliability, and positive impact.
Over time, that has taken shape through:
Supporting high-performance buildings across New Mexico and the Southwest
Advancing LEED, WELL, Fitwel, and other healthy building frameworks
Investing in education, mentorship, and advocacy
Embedding sustainability into how we operate—not just what we deliver
This commitment extends beyond our project work. In 2023, Verdacity became a Certified B Corporation, formally aligning our business practices with rigorous standards for environmental performance, social responsibility, and accountability.
Since 2013, we’ve supported more than 300 projects and achieved over 80 LEED certifications, working across K–12 schools, higher education, federal facilities, and community-based projects.
Beyond Buildings
While our work often shows up in buildings, the impact goes further.

We’ve had the opportunity to contribute to:
District-wide sustainability strategies serving thousands of students
Campus-scale LEED certifications at national laboratories
Partnerships with Native American communities across the Southwest
Policy and advocacy efforts that have helped shape green building in New Mexico
The City of Albuquerque’s LEED for Cities certification, supporting sustainability efforts at the municipal scale
That work has always been rooted in a simple belief: sustainability is most meaningful when it improves people’s lives.
A Collective Effort

This award reflects the work of an entire community.
Our team continues to bring curiosity, rigor, and care to everything we do. Our partners, clients, and collaborators make it possible to push projects further. And the broader design and construction community in New Mexico continues to raise the bar together.
We’re especially grateful to USGBC for this recognition and for their ongoing role in advancing sustainable, resilient, and healthy buildings and communities.
Looking Ahead

We see this award not as a finish line, but as a reminder of what’s possible.
The challenges facing the built environment are evolving—climate, resilience, equity, and long-term performance are becoming more interconnected every day.
Our focus remains the same: continuing to support our partners, strengthen communities, and contribute to buildings that perform better—for people and for the planet.
Call to Action
If you’re working on a project and thinking about sustainability, certification, or long-term performance, we’d love to be part of the conversation.
