In this edition of Verdacity Voices, we’re honored to highlight Ifreet Rahima, an Associate at Verdacity whose drive for environmental impact, community leadership, and mentorship makes her an essential part of our team.

Designing for Meaningful Environmental Impact

For Ifreet, architecture has always been a path toward creating positive changes.

“One of the most rewarding qualities about working at Verdacity is having the ability to create positive changes through architectural practices and having the ability to make deeply positive environmental impacts. The fact that I am part of the process which creates healthy spaces for both humans and the planet, is fulfilling work.”

Ifreet has been in the architecture industry and has been practicing in this field since 2014. Her credentials as a LEED AP BD+C and Green Globes Professional (GGP) reflect her commitment to high-performance, environmentally responsible design. She approaches each project with the belief that buildings can — and should — contribute to the long-term health of their ecosystems, occupants and communities, performance, and environmentally responsible design.

A Leader in Advocacy and Professional Service

Ifreet’s dedication extends far beyond project work. She serves as the Associate Director for AIA New Mexico State Board. Ifreet represents the State of New Mexico at the AIA National Associates Committee where she is currently working with the Advocacy Workgroup. She is an active member of NOMA and was also part of the NOMA New Mexico Election Committee 2025-2026. Additionally, Ifreet leads various events and is an active member of the NM Committee on the Environment (COTE). She contributes meaningfully to legislative efforts that support sustainability, equity, and the architectural profession across the state.

Her leadership was recognized in 2025 when she received the AIA New Mexico Associate Award, honoring her impact, service, and advocacy within the architectural community.

A Teacher at Heart — On Campus and in Practice

Before joining Verdacity, Ifreet taught at the University of New Mexico, where she mentored future architects and helped them find confidence in their ideas and technical skills.

That foundation in teaching continues to shape her work till today. She brings a patient, clear, and uplifting approach to leading project teams through sustainability frameworks — a natural extension of her background in education. Her ability to translate complex requirements into accessible guidance helps teams feel supported and empowered.

Driven by Service — Professionally and Personally

Ifreet is deeply committed to the community, and she remains active in four voluntary organizations. Verdacity’s flexible, remote-friendly culture gives her the time and space to engage fully in both her project work and her service efforts.

“I also appreciate the ability to work remotely. As someone who is actively involved in 4 volunteer organizations, I also appreciate the Professional

Development and Community Service benefit that Verdacity offers, which is motivating!”

Her dedication to giving back is integral to who she is — and it strengthens every team and community she touches.

A Voice That Moves Verdacity Forward

Ifreet brings passion, advocacy, and a deep sense of purpose to everything she does. Her leadership — inside and outside the studio — helps shape Verdacity’s culture and its growing impact on healthier buildings and communities.

She reminds us that sustainability isn’t just about metrics or certifications — it’s about people, compassion, and the hopeful work of building a better future together.

Voices like Ifreet’s help shape Verdacity’s culture and mission.

If you’re looking for meaningful work that supports people and the planet, we’re hiring.
